Smoke and ash from Mount Etna in Sicily, which is erupting, are currently passing directly over Malta, ‘The Weather Page Malta’ Facebook page said.

“This can even be seen by the naked eye as a fine layer in the sky,” the page said.

It said the ash should not affect any flights originating or ending in Malta.
