Two men were seriously injured after a balcony collapsed while they were doing constriction work underneath it, the police said.

The accident took place in Andrea Bogdan Street, Zebbug, at 11.45am.

The two men, aged 23 and 30, and both of Qormi, were working beneath the balcony when this collapsed on them.

The two were taken to hospital, with the 23-year-old reported to have suffered serious injuries. The police later said that the other man also suffered grievous injuries.

Magistrate Francesco Depasquale is conducting an inquiry.
