Fiorentina on training camp in Malta, to play in tournament on Wednesday

Friday, 4 January 2019, 08:59 Last update: about 6 years ago

Serie A club Fiorentina will be in Malta between 6 and 10 January as the team prepares for the resumption of its commitments after the New Year break, first in the Coppa Italia against Torino and later in the league. It is the first time that Fiorentina will be bringing their full squad to Malta for a training camp.

The training camp will conclude with a triangular tournament with the participation of Maltese Premier Division sides Hibernians and Gzira. This will be held on Wednesday 9 January, starting at 5.45pm, at the National Stadium.

The presence of Fiorentina’s senior squad follows successful events held in the last week-end of May organized by the Viola Club Malta, which was celebrating its 50th anniversary.

On that occasion, officials of the Florentine club headed by the vice-president Eng. Gino Salica and club manager and ex-legendary footballer Giancarlo Antognoni were in Malta on a four-day visit, accompanied by representatives of the Associazione Centro Coordinamento Viola Club (supporters club) and Associazione Glorie Viola (ex-Fiorentina players).
