Partit Demokratiku today noted the continued lack of enforcement on illegal dumping.
“Illegal dumping in Ta Qali has been halted, and now it has simply shifted to other locations, to the detriment of our already strained environment,” stated PD Leader Godfrey Farrugia. “A site near Siggiewi has been transformed into one of the latest targets, and irreparable damage to flora and fauna has been done,” he continued.
Partit Demokratiku asks the police, yet again, when they will begin to take action and enforce our already existing laws.
Partit Demokratiku also noted that the laws being broken include the damage being done to protected plants and natural features, and the consequences must be seen holistically.
Partit Demokratiku believes that Malta's waste management problem is being allowed to worsen so as to justify land reclamation in the interests of developers rather than look for genuine solutions to a growing crisis.
