An elderly woman was seriously injured when she was hit by a car in Santa Venera on Monday evening, the police said

The accident took place in Old Railway Road at 5.45pm.

The 80-year-old, resident of Santa Venera, was hit by a car driven by a 51-year-old of Birkirkara.

She was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
