Three men were arrested on Sunday evening in a police drug raid in Marsa.
Two of the men are Maltese, the other is a foreigner. More than 12 hours after the operation was concluded, the police released a statement on the arrests, sayind that the arrested men were a 34-year-old of Hamrun, a 46-year-old of Msida and a Libyan 29-year-old who resides in Marsascala.
The police said the raid was conducted after information was received that trafficking of various kinds of drugs was taking place at all times of the day from the building concerned.
The police said that satchets of cocaine and heroin were found in the building, together with satchets containing cannabis, electronic scales and other items associated with drug trafficking.
Magistrate Neville Camilleri is conducting an inquiry.
The area around Tigrija Street was cordoned off as police officers, including from the Rapid Intervention Unit and Drug Squad, entered a building to conduct a search for drugs.
