A 65-year-old man from Zebbug died on Tuesday morning after falling two storeys inside the car park of Daniel’s Shopping Complex in Hamrun.

The accident took place at around 8am in Triq il-Kbira San Guzepp, the police said.

The man, named as Emanuel Grech, was working with his son in a supermarket which forms part of the complex and which is undergoing renovation. 

The man lived for many years in St Julian's before moving to Zebbug.

TVM said the victim was carrying some items for his son, who was laying tiles. He fell into a shaft and ended up in the car park below. He was certified dead on site.

An ambulance was called but the man was certified dead on site.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke is leading an inquiry. The police are also investigating.
