Three teams from the Czech Republic and another from Slovakia gave way to the Tipsport Malta Cup at the National Stadium, Ta' Qali.
In the first match, FC Zbrojovka Brno beat their Czech compatriots FK MAS Taborsko 1-0 whilst soon after top Slovakian side SK Slovan Bratislava narrowly edged it over a very spirited FK Mlada Boleslav 2-1.
These two teams will be contesting the Tipsport Malta Cup final on Monday afternoon at the National Stadium, kick-off 13:30.
SK Slovan Bratislava are currently leading the Slovakia Super Liga standings while FK Mlada Boleslav are 10th in the Czech First League. FC Zbrojovka Brno and FK MAS Taborsko both play in the Czech Second League.
All the events associated with the visit of these four clubs are being co-oridinated by MFA SportsPlus Limited.
On Wednesday these teams will feature in friendly matches against Maltese teams as follows:
Wednesday, 23 January 2019 - National Stadium

20:00 - FK MAS Taborsko v Floriana
Thursday, 24 January 2019 - National Stadium
18:00 - FK Mlada Boleslav v Balzan
20:00 - SK Slovan Bratislava v Gzira United
