Gozo Minister Justyne Caruana has provided details of the preparations for the implementation of the Marsalforn Master Plan.

Over the past days, she said, tenders for work on the promenade were issued, which include the modernisation of structures, embellisment works, and the installation of decorative lights among others.

She said that the breakwater is part of the masterplan, and is also an electoral pledge. She said that the Gozo ministry is 'determined' to implement this project.

Just recently, the streets of Marsalforn were once again awash with seawater as the promised breakwater has failed to materialise for yet another year.

She said that a team of technical experts evaluated every study that was conducted in the past, however highlighted that while useful information was found, they are not relevant today and as such two more tenders wer epublished. These were: Tender for the Geotechnical Investigations and Reporting on the Marsalforn Breakwater Project in Gozo and Tender for the Preparation of a Project Description Statment and Environmental Impact Assesment. Through these studies, an application to implement the project could be filed with the Planning Authority.
