Sharp contrasts

Sunday, 20 January 2019, 07:56 Last update: about 6 years ago

It is interesting, to say the least, that while the Minister for European Affairs and Equality was lately bragging that the introduction of divorce in Malta gave way to a chain of 'shrinkflation' laws about our Christian values and ethics, a leading psychiatrist in the UK was particularly concerned about the consequences of the emotional fall-out, instability and perplexity in the home caused by feuding parents in divorce proceedings.

Another contrasting feature of current topics is that, while our beloved Archbishop is still the target of a crude smear campaign by a section of the keyboard worms and press, he is held in high esteem in Vatican circles and being given top Vatican  jobs.

The restive soul of a lone person uses the pen with a peacock display of intrinsic spleen in an assault of an island where its moral fibre has been considerably weakened, incredible religious ignorance is rampant, the moral rectitude of religion is no longer permitted to shape our laws and crime is on the increase.
Who is going to erupt like Mount Etna and bell the cat? Our politicians should rediscover our moral values and not play with their conscience when matters of grave moral values crop up for discussion and voting in Parliament. No more time is to be lost.
