Man arrested at airport with 2kg of cocaine

A man travelling to Malta from Brasil was arrested at the airport on Sunday with 2kg of cocaine, the court heard on Monday.

Adalberto Alves da Silva, 39, landed in Malta on Sunday at 2pm. The accused, from Belem in Brazil, travelled to Malta via Dubai.

He was charged in court on Monday with cocaine trafficking.

Da Silva denied the charges and was remanded in custody.

The court was asked to confiscate da Silva's money and property.
