BOV Premier League: Hibernians lodge protest against result of Valletta match

Hibernians have lodged a protest with the MFA against the result of Sunday's Premier League clash against Valletta which the latter won 2-1.

They are claiming that referee Philip Farrugia committed a technical error when he blew his whistle for the end the first half hostilities a few seconds (around eight) before the two minutes allotted for stoppage time.

When Farrugia ended the first half, Hibernians had caught the Valletta defence on the wrong foot in a fast counter break and one of their players was completely alone in midfield with Valletta goalie Henry Bonello well out of position.

Hibs are contending that the referee's decision to end the first half before the two minutes allowed for stoppage time went against the Rules of the Game and constituted a technical error.

The MFA Protest Board will have to decide whether or not to accept the Paolites protest. No date has yet been determined on when the protest will be discussed.
