Hamrun coach Giovanni Tedesco’s season on the bench is practically over as he was on Wednesday suspended for ten matches. With Hamrun eliminated from the FA Trophy, Tedesco’s suspension will be effective in the Premier League, where he can only return to the bench in the last league match against champions Valletta.
Giovanni Tedesco made a verbal assault on referee Glen Tonna at the end of the match against Birkirkara, a match which the Stripes won with a highly disputed penalty near the end of the match.
Hamrun Spartans are believed to lodge an appeal against this suspension. Hamrun goalkeeper Manuel Bartolo was also suspended for two matches and tecnical director Gaetano Farruggio for one match.
In other sanctions related to the FA Trophy, three other players received a one-match ban. These are Fgura United’s Andrew Scicluna, and Tarxien’s pair Edward Calleja and Matthew Spiteri.
