Qatar Airways is to create dozens of new jobs in Malta. The award-winning airline is looking to hire dozens of new staff as it expands its European operations from Malta Airport.

A spokesman for Qatar Airways told 89.7 Bay: 'As part of our rapidly expanding European network, we are now recruiting for a number of roles for our new station in Malta.

'It's an exciting time to join Qatar Airways as we continue to grow our global team.

'We have a number of exciting opportunities across ground services, commercial and marketing.'

The airline will launch direct flights from Doha to Malta starting in June.

The Valletta route will be served with an A320 aircraft, with daily services in summer and four-times-weekly flights in winter.

Qatar Airways chief executive Akbar Al Baker said: 'We are tremendously excited to announce the launch of direct services to Malta, one of Europe's architectural gems and a key new addition to our European network.'
