Referee: Philip Farrugia

Scorers: Clifford Gauci 33' (L), Marco Antonio Morgon Filho 61', 93' (S), Gaetano Gesualdi 77' (S)

Sirens brushed aside another difficult obstacle in their pursuit for a historical promotion in the top flight, with their eighth successive win. Frankly Vince Carbonaro's side can only throw away the promotion now.

But to be fair yesterday Sirens were not at their best. Fresh from the 10-2 drubbing over Marsa, Sirens found the going much harder and Lija could have easily gained a point. Lija took a first half lead, and Sirens were rather unsettled and never had any clear cut chances in front of goal.

Lija were hampered by the loss of defender Leon Muscat on the hour, with Sirens turning the tide in their favour thanks to two great shots from a distance. Morgon Filho's equaliser was really a great strike, with a majestic shot on the turn that left Bonnici helpless.

Zebbug R-Gudja U  1-2

Żebbuġ R: J. Borg, D. Fava, S. Schembri, R. Vella, H. Vella, S. Buhagiar, B. Muscat, T. Rodrigo dos Santos, J. Caetano da Silva, J. Farrugia, B. Gregori de Sousa.

Gudja U: J. Debono, L. Martinelli, J. Bondin, A. Mizzi, F. Aboulezz, S. Diacono, L.J. Schembri, J. Farrugia, L. Cremona, A. Marshall Nagbe, R. Kooh Sohna.

Referee: Alan Mario Sant

Scorers: Hubert Vella 6’ (Z), Raphael Kooh Sohna 66’ (G), Adolphus Marshall Nagbe 92’ (G)

Gudja had a lucky escape yesterday beating crisis hit Zebbug thanks to a last gasp goal scored by Marshall.

Zebbug were yesterday under the guidance of former Mqabba coach Clive Mizzi, who took over from Edgar Degabriele. Zebbug looked on the right path to collect something from this match, especially after leading till the break.

But in the second half Gudja pushed to save the match and after getting the equaliser, managed to grab the three points at stake with practivally the last shot of the match. It was a rather harsh result for Zebbug who remain hovering dangerously above the relegation zone.

For Gudja these were three fundamental points as they now opened a good gap on fourth placed Lija who were beaten by the leaders in the other match yesterday.
