In his weekly vlog MEP Francis Zammit Dimech speaks about the first set of PN proposals he launched earlier this week which aim to strengthen the fight against cancer. 
These include:1) Starting Population based screening for prostate cancer;

2) Investing more in cancer research and reissue post-doc grants to incentivise research in this area;

3) Providing more  psychological support to children who have cancer or who have relatives experiencing cancer, including in Gozo;

4) Investing even further in a specialised breast cancer centre;
5) Providing more funding to local councils to play a role in cancer prevention initiatives;6) Involving cancer NGOs in policy decisions;

7) Taking a stocktake of the National Cancer Plan and the target set by the government to make all cancer drugs available for free by next year.

Zammit Dimech said that following further consultation which will be held over the coming days, he will be presenting further proposals. Zammit Dimech pledged his commitment to continue working to involve local cancer NGOs in the development of policies.
