The European elections in Malta must give a clear verdict on those trying to undermine and destablise our national interests in Europe, Maltese MEP Alfred Sant told a packed audience in Qawra. The former Prime Minister said it’s important we discuss our political disagreements internally, but should never harm our country in Europe. Damaging Malta in Europe runs against the interests of the Maltese and Gozitans who are eager to improve the standard of living of our young people, workers, pensioners and their families.

Sant said that Maltese and Gozitan citizens will soon choose their representatives in Europe.

“Twenty months ago the Maltese and Gozitan electorate voiced their trust in Joseph Muscat’s government. It’s the same choice we are facing on 25 May : we must strengthen our confidence in this government.”

The Maltese MEP said that certain local political forces have obstructed and will continue to harm the Maltese Government in Europe.

“We should prevent them from continuing to do so. The electorate should vote for all the Labour candidates to ensure another victory for all Maltese and Gozitans.”

The Labour Government has improved the economic and financial condition of the younger generation, workers, self-employed, pensioners. It is obvious that more has to be done and that Joseph Muscat’s government is determined to further improve the standard of living of the Maltese and Gozitans, remarked the Maltese MEP.
