A familiar sight can be seen just outside of Santa Lucija’s picturesque Chinese Garden.

Some of the white sculptures which were seen around Valletta during V18, now quite damaged and worn, have been placed down the public path just outside of the gardens.

The sculptures were part of the ‘Hekk jghid il-Malti’ project, which translates Maltese proverbs into art.

The white statues that were placed in various locations around Valletta during V18 are now being distributed to other localities, the Mayor of Santa Lucija Terrence Ellul told The Malta Independent, highlighting that some have come to his locality.

“Those statues arrived recently. They were part of V18 and they were divided among localities in order for them not to be thrown away.”

He said that the local council is speaking with the artist to see if there is anything that can be fixed and to see whether he will do them or whether we will employ another artist to do so. “We are contacting the artist.”

He said that the locality received the sculptures in the state they are in, and that they were not touched since they arrived.
