In response to Alternattiva Demokratika MEP candidate Arnold Cassola’s open letter to his party, the party published an open letter of its own in response to Cassola’s comments on MEP candidate Mina Tolu’s criticisms of the national debate of abortion.

The letter in full is as follows –

"I appreciate, as always, your views, and I think it would have been much better if instead of publishing the email, you had the patience to at least discuss it internally within the party.

"I did observe that in you email you commented, effectively proposed, on the circumstances in which abortion is acceptable. In you email you say the following: “I am completely against abortion except in cases where the mother’s life is in danger.”

"As you know, this is a position that our party has never taken and I appreciate your contribution in the discussion.

"I inform you that the contents of your email will be discussed in the next party Executive meeting."
