BOV Water Polo Winter League fixtures drawn; first matches to be played on 22nd March

The BOV Water Polo Winter League 2019 will kick off on the 22nd March with 6 teams competing in the BOV Premier Division and 5 teams competing for the First Division title.

The fixtures were drawn during a press conference held at the Aquatic Sports Association of Malta boardroom and addressed by ASA President Joe Caruana Curran and Anthony Scicluna, Chief Officer at Bank of Valletta.

'The ASA Council will be meeting shortly to decide if the new game regulations introduced shorlty by FINA will be adopted as early as the BOV Winter League', said the ASA President. 'We are planning to bring over a number of experts to meet with our clubs and referees to ensure a smooth transition into the new rules.'

'On another note, we are very pleased with the performances of a number of young players in the Enemed Cup currently underway', continued the ASA President. 'The Development Scheme in conjunction with Bank of Valletta is already paying dividends and this will be the stepping stone for the National Team of the future.'

'The Youth Development Scheme is aimed at assisting young players obtain a training and playing experience abroad and witness play at a higher level than we are accustomed to', said BOV Chief Officer Anthony Scicluna. 'It is indeed a pleasure for the Bank to be associated with the ASA

The ASA, in collaboration with all the clubs, reserves the right to move the dates and times of matches as deemed necessary. The final fixtures with the dates and times of all matches will be issued shortly by the ASA.
