In his vlog MEP Francis Zammit speaks about his work at the European Parliament to safeguard the pharmaceutical sector, an economic sector that reached our shores that to a PN administration and which offers good jobs for MCAST and University graduates including scientists and other workers from Malta and Gozo. He explained that safeguarding this industry was not only crucial in terms of jobs but also to ensure provision of new medicines to treat diseases and save lives. He recalled how he was closely following the health sector at the European Parliament especially in terms of cancer and diabetes.

Francis Zammit Dimech had held discussions with the Rapporteur and meetings with officials from the Permanent Representation of Malta to the EU and representatives of Malta Enterprise whom he thanked for their collaboration and support. Zammit Dimech also held a meeting with the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA).

He reiterated his call for further investment in R&D as Malta stands third from last in the EU in this regard. Zammit Dimech urged the government to invest further in new economic sectors that create high quality jobs and investment.
