Vittoriosa Stars returned to winning ways beating bottom-of-the-table side Marsa by two Ogonuppe late strikes.

Vittoriosa dominated the match for long stretches but could only find a way past Marsa's defense in the last 10 minutes of the match.

Vittoriosa opened the scoring on 80 minutes thanks to a penalty scored by Joseph Ogonuppe, who managed to double the score two minutes from time with a powerful strike.

These were three precious points for the Stars who now move to a safer position in the standings, leaving Marsa firmly anchored at the bottom of the table.

Tempers flared in stoppage time with both sides finishing the match with ten players.

Lija A.-Gudja U.        1-1

Lija A.: L. Bonnici, JC Cassar, L. Muscat, D. Scerri, E. Beu, A. Borg, M. Clinch, D. Mintoff, A. Galea (Andrea Azzopardi, 65'), K. Kuroki, O. Sidibe

Scorers: Koken Kuroki 29' (L), Raphael Kooh Sohna 74' (G)

Referee: Paul Toledo

Raphael Kooh Sohna scored Gudja's equaliser fifteen minutes from time to save his side from a defeat against Lija Athletic. Lija took a first half lead and looked set for a precious victory over the second-placed Gudja but Koph Sohna's equaliser dented their ambitions.

The result leaves Gudja comfortably in second place but league leaders Sirens can now further increase their lead at the top.

Lija had their first shot on target after barely 4 minutes when an effort by Leon Muscat from a corner kick seemed destined for the net but was saved from the line by Gudja's defense.

They managed to open the scoring after 29 minutes of play when Koren Kuroki hit the target from close range.

Raphael Kooh Sohna managed to level matters on 74 minutes by beating Luke Bonnici with a low shot.
