DINGLI and WARDIJA produced a classic game, with a marvellous performance, an entertaining football, played in excellent sporting manner. This is how football should be played, as if a friendly game an may the best team win. Not only this, the game may be considered as one of the best seen this seasin if not the best. There was no superiority in a fair draw 2-2. With this draw, DINGLI still lead the standing in the MAPFRE/MSV Life MASTERS PREMIER LEAGUE, but losing points at this moment might be crucial. Close marking left limited space for the attackers who were given close attention and Marlon Briffa of Wardija and Simon Shead of Dingli, top scorer of the league at the moment, did not find the usual freedom to score goals. Defences were good and closed the way to goal, but still both goalkeepers were prominent with some exellent saves with shots from long distance. Twenty minuts passed before Marlon Briffa opened the score, however, before the end of the first half, Dingli were back with Malcolm Licari getting thequaliser. After the break nothing was changed, and we had another goal each for a 2-2 finish.
VALLETTA playing one of their best games so far, beat RABAT 4-1 to gain three points that are useful in this last phase of gthe championship and in their efforts to avoid relegation to Division One. The first half was balanced with a goal each. Valletta was more determined in the second half when they played good football and merited their win. VALLETTA with such a good squad will increase their efforts to avoid relegation. In Kevin Naudi they have a useful player again being the 'master mind' of the team and kept his promise to put his name as usual amongst the scorers. First half was very well contested, but in the second half, Valletta were better and got three goals withouot any reply coming from the Rabat team. Rabat disappointed. The team is not being consistent. Since they lost Chris Muscat through injury they are finding it difficult to score goals. They need too improve if theywant to avoid relegation.
From the CISK MASTER DIVISION ONE, the leaders and favourit to win he main title, surprised everybody when they suffered their first defeat, beaten by TARGA GAP 7-3. The winners without doubt can be acknowledged as a more compettive team. . They are now a good team and has improved a lot lately. They are now a good team and had improved a lot lately. To be fair Mosta had some established players missing and could not produce their best. However, TARGA GAP as they are playing their aim for sure is the promotion first and then maybe they make an effort to win the main title. They have some good productive players, such as Kurt Coleiro a hard working player very effective with long strong shots. There Is also the Gatt brothers, Jean Bert and Adrian who work hard and never give up.
