Farrugia selects final squad for Faroe, Spain qualifiers

Malta coach Ray Farrugia has finalised his 23-man squad for the opening Euro 2020 qualifiers against the Faroe Islands and Spain.

The national team launch their Group F campaign against Faroe Islands at the National Stadium on Saturday, March 23, before hosting Spain three days later.

Uncapped quartet Matthew Guillaumier (Birkirkara), Nikolai Muscat (Gżira United), Karl Micallef (Ħamrun Spartans) and goalkeeper Nicky Vella (Pietà Hotspurs) have been confirmed in Farrugia’s squad.

The two players from the provisional list who have missed out on selection to the final squad are Birkirkara wing-back Kurt Zammit and Senglea Athletic winger Leighton Grech.

Defender Zach Muscat, currently on the books of Portuguese club SC Olhanense, joined up with his Malta team-mates ahead of this evening’s training session.
