President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca was unhurt in a traffic accident involving her official car in Paola this morning.
The President had just presided over the presentation of a donation by Spiro Mizzi Foundation to various communities and schools in the Cottonera Area, at Senglea Primary School, Senglea
Coleiro Preca was travelling back to San Anton Palace when the accident happened in Sir Paul Boffa Avenue. She was due to receive a group of residents from St Vincent de Paule residence, on a courtesy call and later meet Regina Doherty, Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection of Ireland, according to the President's diary of events.
The car she was in was pushed against a central barrier by a heavy vehicle.
No other persons are believed to have been injured in the crash.
The President was taken back to San Anton Palace in another vehicle.
