An Air Malta flight to Moscow was forced to turn back on Friday night after developing a technical fault. 

KM560 flying to Sheremetyevo International Airport reported a technical problem just a few minutes after taking off. 

The Airbus A-320 circled the island to burn off fuel to reduce aircraft weight before it landed safely back, according to flight tracker site Flight Radar 24, 

No incident was reported on board.

The flight was later operated by another aircraft.
