A late comeback was not enough for Exiles Elia Caterers to salvage a point as they were beaten 10-9 by Neptunes Leo Vegas. Exiles had a difficult start to the game and their lack of concentration in the first two sessions proved to be vital.

Neptunes thought that they crossed the line for the win early after having a comfortable fivegoal lead after the second session. Jovan Popovic will be happy with the win but not with the team’s overall performance as they risked losing the fantastic work they did early in the game.

Neptunes won the first session 5-1 after Nicky Paris scored the opening goal for Exiles.

The gap continued to get bigger in the second session as after Mark Fenech responded to Jeremy Abela’s goal, Gabriel Pace and Niki Lanzon seemed to made sure of the game as at that moment Neptunes were leading comfortably 8-2.

Exiles started their comeback in the third session the gap diminished to three goals.

Fenech scored before the end of the second session and Philip Paris and Aurelien Cousin scored after the restart. Igor Vukanovic’s team reduced the gap to two goals before the start of the last session.

Exiles converted their first occasion of the last session with a goal by Nicky Paris but youngster Jake Muscat doubled again Neptunes’ lead from the next action. Neptunes controlled the last minutes of the game as the ninth goal by Michele Stellini came late to try and save the game.
