Four men arrested after caught with 65 kilos of cannabis

After weeks of observation carried out by the Drugs Squad, four men were arrested in the limits of Gzira after they were found in the possession of 65 kilos of cannabis, which was ready for trafficking.

A 40-year-old Maltese man who resides in Hal Qormi was found in the possession of 17 kilos of the cannabis plant which was hidden in his vehicle. Whilst in another garage in Gzira and in a residence in Msida, 47 kilos of cannabis was found which was also ready for trafficking. A haversack was also found containing a kilo of cannabis, a small amount of cannabis resin and another small amount of magic mushrooms together with €17,000 in cash money.

The other three men are a 42 year old Croatian who resides in Gzira and two Serbians; 36 and 37 years old, who reside in Msida and Naxxar. All four men are being kept under arrest to aid in the Police investigation.

A Magisterial Inquiry was appointed into the case and all four men are expected to be arraigned in court tomorrow morning for the association and trafficking of drugs and for money laundering.

Police investigation is still on going.
