There is so much talk about economic progress, decreases in unemployment and a better lifestyle, but there is another side of the coin.

This photo was taken at 6.30am this morning, and shows three people wrapped up in blankets, sleeping outdoors in Floriana. At least they sought and found some form of shelter in St Anne Street, famous for its loggias.

These photos have become more frequent in recent months. They portray situations which show that not everyone is enjoying the comfort most of us have become used to.

For years it such scenes were eradicated from our streets. Now they have made a return.
