Set to fail? 30km/h limit is too low, Dingli residents say

Tuesday, 9 April 2019, 09:13 Last update: about 6 years ago

The introduction over the weekend of a speed limit for drivers going up the hill leading to Dingli caught many of them unawares.

Drivers are now “forced” to slow down to a speed of just 30km/h unless they want to be booked for overspeeding, as happened to many since the new system came to be.

Their argument is that the limit is too low for an uphill street, and it would have been better if it had been taken up to at least 50km/h.

The signs that have been put up are large enough to be noticed by drivers, but at that point vehicles would be gathering speed to climb a rather steep hill and slowing down would complicate matters for drivers.
