Malta’s national centre for water conservation, known as Centru Ghajn in Rabat, has won the European Sustainability Award organised by the European Commission, the government said in a statement.

The centre placed first in the public entities sector, with the theme for this year being   ‘Empowering People and Ensuring Inclusiveness and Equality’.

Since its opening in April 2017, the centre welcomed 6,000 visitors, including 2,500 schoolchildren.
