Hockey, National League: Decider to settle league title now looks inevitable

Henry Cachia Thursday, 11 April 2019, 11:53 Last update: about 6 years ago

After Sunday's games Qormi Daikin and Sliema Hs continued, their relentless march to what now looks almost certain to be a title decider. Both sides have one more match to conclude their league commitments; Sliema Hs face White Hart on Sunday and Qormi Daikin take on Rabat after the Easter break (28th April). Given the previous results (Sliema v White Hart 6-0, 3-0 and Qormi Daikin v Rabat 7-2, 4-1) it seems unlikely that the leaders will be losing any points. A title decider looks inevitable.

On Sunday, a goal in each half from Julian Zahra saw Sliema Hs see off the challenge from Floriana Young Stars who's League campaign is ending with a bit of a whimper following a bright start that saw them going head to head with bough Qormi and Sliema.

In the second game, Qormi Daikin strolled to an easy 5-0 victory over White Hart even though they took their time to get cracking with the first half ending just 1-0. Scorers for Qormi Daikin on the day were Duncan Edwards, Luke Bajada, Steve Tanti, Joseph Cuschieri and Juan Sarcia.

On Sunday, besides the Sliema Hs. versus White Hart game at 9:00 am there will also be Floriana Young Stars versus Rabat at 11:00 am.
