Nominations of local council, MEP candidates to be accepted between 16 and 22 April

The Electoral Commissioners have notified that they will receive online nominations through the website www.electoral.gov.mt by candidates for the forthcoming European Parliament and Local Council Elections.

Online applications may be submitted from 9am on Tuesday, 16 April, until 7pm on Monday, 22 April. Step-by-step guidelines are available on the website. 

Candidates who opt not to settle their €90 deposit online must ensure that they do so by hand by not later than 7pm of 22 April.

The Electoral Commissioners also notify that they will be in attendance to receive nominations at their Offices in the Counting Hall Complex at Naxxar and at the I.D. Card Office at St Francis Square, Victoria, Gozo, on Tuesday 16, Wednesday 17, Thursday 18, Saturday 2h and Monday 22 April from 9am to 1pm and from 3pm to 7pm.

Prospective candidates are advised to present their identity card and that the top section of the nomination form should reflect the details of the candidate as shown in the electoral register being published on 13 April. In case of illness or being abroad, the nomination form needs to be submitted by a representative of the candidate. The representative must supply a specific power of attorney authenticated by a notary public. A deposit of €90 is applicable.

Application forms for prospective candidates may be obtained from the Office of the Electoral Commission as from today and during nomination days. Forms may also be downloaded from the Electoral Commission's website at https://electoral.gov.mt/Elections/ApplicationFormsEN.

Objections to nominations shall be received at the same office during the days and hours established for nominations as well as on Tuesday 23 April during the same hours.
