A good crowd watched this match, with both sets of supporters in festive mood. Sirens took the lead in the first half with a Ratko Mandic header and Gudja levelled matters eleven minutes from time with another header, this time from Raphael Kooh Sohna.

As Gudja pressed for the winner, they suffered the deadly blow three minutes from time when substitute Russell Fenech scored the winner after a powerful run on the right flank.

The goal festival started on 53 minutes when Ciro Quaranta converted from the spot, and five minutes later Qrendi looked set for an important win when Luca Brincat fired in the top corner from close range.

But it was not to be as Lija scored two goals in two minutes, thanks to two headers from Erjon beu who had another good display. But on 65 minutes Qrendi were awarded the secodn penalty for another handling infringement. Quaranta's shot was blocked by Bonnici but Bondin drilled home the rebound.
