Sirens beat Gudja United in a top of the table calsh and are now practically sure of winning the title as they have a six-point lesad over the same Gudja with two matches remaining.

This was a much expected match between these two newly promoted sides who made it for the first time to the premier league. Sirens deserved their victory, even though they scored the winner three minutes from time, in Gudja's best moment.

A good crowd watched this match, with both sets of supporters in festive mood. Sirens took the lead in the first half with a Ratko Mandic header and Gudja levelled matters eleven minutes from time with another header, this time from Raphael Kooh Sohna.

As Gudja pressed for the winner, they suffered the deadly blow three minutes from time when substitute Russell Fenech scored the winner after a powerful run on the right flank.

Qrendi gained a precious win over Lija to ease their relegation worrries and put pressure on San Gwann who are now firm favourites to join Marsa for the drop.

After a rather boring first half the match had ana amazing eleven minute spell with five goals scored and two penalties awarded, both for Qrendi. The goal festival started on 53 minutes when Ciro Quaranta converted from the spot, and five minutes later Qrendi looked set for an important win when Luca Brincat fired in the top corner from close range.

But it was not to be as Lija scored two goals in two minutes, thanks to two headers from Erjon beu who had another good display. But on 65 minutes Qrendi were awarded the secodn penalty for another handling infringement. Quaranta's shot was blocked by Bonnici but Bondin drilled home the rebound.
