Air Malta did not deny this evening a report in The Malta Independent saying that it paid its €15 million fuel dues to Enemed after the annual general meeting.

In a statement, the national carrier said that “it is very unfortunate that certain sections of the Press are trying to tarnish the financial improvements achieved by Air Malta by implying that the airline made certain financial transactions. Air Malta’s Financial Statements have been deposited with the Registry of Companies.

“These accounts have been audited by an independent audit firm (one of the big four) being the same company that has audited the accounts of the company for the last decade.

“The Airline confirms that it always honours its financial commitments and being a registered commercial entity, Air Malta follows standard disclosure practices in refraining from naming its individual debtors and creditors or amounts due by or to the Company.”

Nowhere in the statement does the airline deny the contents of The Malta Independent report.
