A woman died after she was hit by a truck when she fell off a motorbike in Paola on Saturday evening.

The woman, a German aged 23, died on site in Vjal Santa Lucija at around 10.45pm.

She was riding pillion with a biker who lost control of the motorcycle. Both fell off the bike but the woman was hit by a truck being driven by a 43-year-old Italian.

The police did not give the details of the biker.

Magistrate Aaron Bugeja is leading an investigation.
