Seven people were arrested in a police drug raid inside a garage in Qormi on Tuesday evening.

Personnel from the Drug Squad, District Police, the Special Intervention Unit and the Canine Unit were involved in the operation, which took place in Triq il-Mejjilla, the police said.

The persons who were arrested hail from Qormi, Valletta, Zejtun, Msida and St Paul’s Bay. Their ages vary between 38 and 47.

Several packets filled with a brown or white substance, believed to be cocaine and heroin, were found inside the garage. Other drug-related items were also seized.

Magistrate Monica Vella is leading an inquiry.

The seven are expected to be arraigned in the coming days.
