A man and a woman were taken to hospital after being hit by a car in separate accidents in Sliema and Marsa this afternoon, the police said.

In the first accident, a Japanese woman, aged 71, was hit by a Smart driven by a 27-year-old of Fgura.

The accident took place in Manuel Dimech Street at 2pm.

In the second accident, a man who is believed to be a foreigner and is yet to be identified, was hit by a Cherolet driven by a 38-year-old man of Valletta.

The accident took place in December 13 Road at 5.30pm.

Both pedestrians were taken to hospital for treatment. A magisterial inquiry is underway for the Marsa accident.
