Watch: Parliament a farce in the hands ‘of the maestro, the Prime Minister’, PD leader says

PD leader Godfrey Farrugia said that the two-week adjournment of Parliament was a surprise decision taken by Castille.

“I was a whip and I know how these things work,” he said in a Facebook video. “I don’t think that anyone adjourns Parliament without a reason. This shows that democracy in Malta is very weak.”

In his reasoning, the present Labour whip said that too many MPs were missing sittings because of the election. Farrugia argued that this is not a new phenomenon. Attendance has dropped because of the government’s attitude, including the way it bought is own backbench via appointments and the way it ignored the Opposition.

Parliament has become a farce in the hands “of the maestro, the Prime Minister,” Farrugia said.

Parliament was adjourned until after the 25 May EP and local council elections.
