Students who complained about loud music and disturbance during an exam will not be disadvantaged, the MATSEC examinations board said.

Following reports about loud music being played at a venue close to the Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary School last Saturday while students were sitting for their SEC Maltese Paper II exam, MATSEC is currently looking into the matter to ensure that such candidates will not be disadvantaged, a statement said.

Meanwhile, MATSEC is informed that the Examinations Department which is the entity tasked with the selection and administration of the examination venues, is actively working with the relevant authorities to avoid a repeat of such disturbances.

A total of 5,407 students are currently sitting for their SEC examinations plus another 883 taking SEC Vocational exams while 3,857 candidates are completing their MATSEC examinations.

Examinations commenced in March with the listening and oral components and will run until the third week of June.
