The Electoral Commission has said that the approximate percentage voting turnout for the European Parliamentary elections stood at 31.99% as at 2pm.
This approximate turnout was published very late in the day, and sources told this newsroom that the Commission is under-staffed today.

five years ago, the 2pm EP election turnout stood at 33.8%, and the final turnout was 74.8%.
in terms of today's local council elections, the average total approximate percentage stood at 27.58% as at 2pm.
Voting began at 7am and will continue until 10pm tonight.
