A Briton was conditionally discharged after he pleaded guilty to causing damage in a Portomaso apartment block.

Steve Jones, 50, was charged with causing damages worth more than €250 but less than €2,500 to the detriment of Spinola Development Co. Ltd in St Julian’s on 23 May.

He was also charged with breaching public peace and was drunk so as not to be able to take care of himself.

Jones was given time to consider the guilty plea, which he confirmed before Magistrate Joe Mifsud passed judgment.

He was discharged on condition he does not commit another offence period for two years and paying for the damages, around €700, to the injured party.

He was warned if he does something and appears back in court the judgement would be different.

Jones was assisted by legal aid Victor Bugeja.
