The Nationalist Party took some consolation after official results show that the defeat in the European Parliament election is smaller than had been projected.
In a statement this morning, the PN noted that the margin between the two major parties is 9,000 votes smaller than that reported by PBS and One – the defeat is by 42,656 votes, and not 51,500.
This shows that the PN defeat is much closer to the one suffered in the general election two years ago, when the difference between the parties was 40,000 votes.
The PN said that it showed prudence in the way it was calculating the sampling of the votes.
It said it accepted the result with humility and determination, promising that it will do its best to understand the people’s aspirations.
It also congratulated the six MEPs who were elected.
