Swedish national team manager Janne Andersson said that his side is prepared to beat Malta and get the three points at stake. He said this during the pre-match press conference at the Friends Arena yesterday.

He said he will not spare players for the more difficult test against Spain on Monday, but said that his side needs the three points against Malta and are prepared to do so. He said that he saw matches of the Malta team and said that Ray Farrugia's side is strong, and very hard working especially in defence.

He said that it is true that Malta does not score many goals, but said that the Maltese do not concede goals easily either. Andersson who took over the helm of the national team after Sweden's poor performances in the Euro 2016, admitted that his side is favourite to win especially at home, but said that they have to work hard and play a good game to get their success.

Sampdoria player Albin Ekdal also addressed yesterday's press conference. Ekdal said that the most important thing is the victory against Malta and not the score. He said that it is already difficult to win, let alone win by a big margin.

Ekdal said that Malta is well organised especially in defence and it will be difficult to score. However he said that they would try to obtain a large victory against Malta.

Before the press conference Sweden's national team under the guidance of manager Janne Andersson continued with their preparations for the match against Malta at the Friends Arena in Solna district of Stockholm.

Sweden made a training spin at the venue of the match. This will be the twelfth encounter between Sweden and Malta, with the Scandinavians winning the previous eleven encounters scoring 42 against Malta's two.

This will be the third game for both sides in Group F of the Euro 2020 qualifiers. Malta obtained a victory over Faroe Islands in their opening match, and lost 0-2 against Spain in the second encounter. This will be Malta's first away match in this group.

Sweden started with a 2-1 victory against Romania at the Friends Arena, and obtained a dramatic 3-3 draw in Oslo against Norway. Sweden next faces group favourites Spain at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid on Monday, and Malta entertains Romania at Ta' Qali.
