President George Vella has expressed his gratitude for the work carried out by the Armed Forces of Malta in rescue operations involving migrants.

Speaking during a visit to the AFM, Vella said that the AFM is an example to other nations in the way if offers humanitarian assistance to people in distress.

Referring to the murder of a migrant and the arraignment of two soldiers, Vella said that the mistakes of individuals should not be carried by the whole army.
