Speaker of the House of Representatives Anglu Farrugia will take on the role of Acting President between 10 and 14 June, the government announced today.

President George Vella will be away from the country at the same time that Dolores Cristina, who is officially designated as Acting President, will also be abroad.

Article 49 of the Constitution says that in such cases it will be the Speaker who takes on the role of Acting President.

President Vella will be flying to Switzerland and The Netherlands.
