A woman was seriously injured this afternoon when she was hit by a car in Luqa, the police said.

The accident took place in San Vincenz Street at 12.30pm.

The 38-year-old woman from Qormi was hit by a Toyota Starlet driven by a 47-year-old man of Siggiewi.

She was taken to Mater Dei Hospital with serious injuries.

Magistrate Monica Vella is leading an inquiry.
