Balzan Valley traffic chaos as no entry signs being ignored

Tuesday, 18 June 2019, 09:18 Last update: about 6 years ago

Last year, so much fuss had been generated in the social media and elsewhere as a few trees in Balzan Valley were eliminated to make way for a road project.

One year has passed and the project is still in the making. Some work, people living in the area said, was carried out just before the local council elections, but it has since been moving at a very slow pace.

What is of concern is that no entry signs have been erected, warning drivers not to enter the road, except of course for the residents and others who render a service. This is because the work has not been completed and it is, at present, impossible to drive through from one end to the others.

Residents have remarked that even police cars on patrol have been “caught” ignoring the no-entry sign, only to have to make a u-turn to find another way.

The residents are urging the authorities to finish the project as soon as possible. “We have suffered too much inconvenience for a whole year,” they said.
