464 new councillors elected in the Local Councils election held in May took their oath during a ceremony in the presence of Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, Minister for Justice, Culture and Local Government Owen Bonnici and Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government and Communities Silvio Parnis.

Of the 464 new councilors 343 are male and 121 female.
