‘Sense of distrust’ still present within the PN – internal sources

Internal PN sources have told The Malta Independent that after the last Parliamentary Group session there is still a sense of distrust within the party, and that calls were made for Delia to call for a vote of confidence in himself.

Delia has been facing much criticism, both internal and external, after the massive electoral defeats the party suffered with Delia at the helm last month.

During the first Parliamentary Group session held after the MEP and local council elections, Nationalist Party MPs were adamant that responsibility must be shouldered, going as far to say that either Delia or Clyde Puli should resign.

Since then, Pierre Portelli resigned from the post of head of the party's media. A second Parliamentary Group session was then held this week, however internal PN sources did not indicate that all was ok.

Sources said that many MPs within the Parliamentary Group still believe that some form of shouldering of responsibility should take place.

Indeed Delia had come out with a number of proposals during the meeting, including that the Parliamentary Group will meet twice a week, and that he will include more advisors and that he will appoint a political coordinator, among other things.

However, the sources said, that the MPs still said that political responsibility should be upheld but if not, then he should go to the general council and call for a vote of confidence in himself, in order to give him the impetus to move forward.
